Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

While the beauty community and makeup lovers world wide are going bonkers for blinding highlight and creating new brow trends, I am over here in a corner thinking ‘I don’t like a REALLY blinding highlight, nor do I want braided brows or McDonalds brows’. But, here I am, still plodding along with my blog and just doing me.

Superdrug recently had an offer on all Sleek products; spend £12 and get a free essentials box. Of course, I took advantage of that offer and ordered 2 Solstice palettes. 1 for me, and 1 for my September giveaway on my Facebook page.

I had heard so many good reviews about the Solstice palette. Youtubers and Bloggers were raving about it. It always makes me slightly dubious when a Youtuber is recommending something. I question whether their recommendations are real or if they are being paid to say nice things. But that’s another story. I watch so many makeup tutorials on YT that are filled with Morphe brushes, my heart is telling me ‘I NEED THOSE BRUSHES IN MY LIFE. NOW!’ And my head is like ‘😑🤔’…

Anyway… getting back to the point of this blog 😂

My Solstice palettes arrived and when I opened the box I was stunned by the packaging. It looks stunning 😍👌🏻

It’s very lightweight and definitely a handbag friendly sized palette.

Inside the palette there is 2 baked powder highlighters, 1 cream formula highlighter & a silky shimmer powder.

I always apply my highlighter with my finger tip. It’s personal preference I suppose. I just feel like I have more control with my finger tips. I also don’t highlight the tops of my cheeks, again, personal preference. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. But, I do highlight my Cupid’s bow, brow bone, inner corners and the bridge of my nose.

When I tried the palette for the first time I absolutely fell in love. It’s not often that you find a highlighter palette that is affordable and really good quality.

The powders and cream highlighters apply beautifully, they blend perfectly and are SO pigmented for an affordable product.

I am currently sat on my daughters bedroom floor writing this blog, waiting for her to fall asleep 😴 so I have done some swatches for you, but the lighting isn’t that great in her bedroom. But I think I managed to get a pretty good shot of the swatches of the palette.

(Please excuse the tiny bruise on my arm ruining the 2nd swatch 😔)

As you can see, the highlighters are really pigmented, even the cream which is the far left swatch.

If you are in the market for a new highlighter, or even a highlighter palette with a mix of shades, then I definitely recommend the Solstice palette.

Have you got the Solstice palette? What’s your thoughts on it?

So Eco Brushes – Yes or No?

Hey!!

I hope you’re all doing well?

I was recently sent 2 So Eco brushes by My Cosmetic Corner. My Cosmetic Corner is an amazing website that is filled with makeup products and accessories all below RRP.

I have known the owner of MCC for a while now,  I can’t even remember how we first started talking! Our friendship has blossomed and we speak on a daily basis (pretty much). When she messaged me and told me she was getting So Eco brushes in stock I was so excited! I had wanted to try their brushes for so long, but never got round to buying any. She asked me to try a couple of brushes out for her and give her my honest opinion.

I received the So Eco Multi Tasking Brush & the Bronzer Brush.

Please excuse the dirty brushes, they have been used a few times and put to the test 😊

Firstly, the brushes are so comfortable to hold. The Multi Tasking Brush blended out my foundation really easily, and it also worked perfectly at blending out my concealer.

The brushes are super soft and the brissels feel really nice on the skin. Not scratchy at all.

I am in LOVE with how big and chunky the Bronzer Brush is. Again, it’s super soft and comfortable to hold, but because of how big the brush is it really helps to give you a natural bronzy look. It doesn’t pick up too much product either.

I would 100% recommend both of these brushes.

If you want to check out what So Eco brushes My Cosmetic Corner has in stock, please go to the following link:

5 Different Uses for Baby Wipes

3 blogs in one evening! I think that might be a record for me!!

I have baby wipes coming out of my ears, they are literally everywhere in my house. My daughter gets very messy very quickly, so having wipes around is a necessity!

Apart from the obvious use for baby wipes, I use them for so many other things!

1. To remove my makeup. Beauty wipes and baby wipes are pretty much exactly the same thing, just with a very different price tag. I buy my wipes in bulk at £6 for 12 packs (individually they are around 65p each) they are soft and gentle, and get the job done quickly.

2. Who needs polish and a duster when you have baby wipes? If I need to quickly wipe down any surfaces in my living room, I use baby wipes.

3. I am crap at dying my own hair, somehow dye always ends up on my face, ears or even my neck. I quickly remove it with a baby wipe!

4. Sometimes I go a bit OTT with my home fake tan, Hello baby wipes! Works wonders!

5. Having a bad hair day? Use a baby wipe to tame those flyaway hairs!

Baby wipes aren’t just for babies! Get creative!

A little update on me..

Depression is pretty shit! I am not going to sugar coat it, it’s a horrible illness that millions of people are going through right now.

Some people have no support network around them, and I cannot imagine how lonely they feel.

I have family, friends and an amazingly supportive husband, there were times when I was going through post natal depression that I felt completely lonely. It’s the worst feeling in the world.

A few blog posts back, I posted a blog all about my post natal depression; how I was diagnosed, how I felt, and the background to my depression journey. It was so scary opening up like that, but I needed to blog about it, firstly to try and get people talking about depression, and secondly for me, for the start of my healing process I just needed to talk.

Now, I write this blog in a completely different state of mind. I am now off my medication, and I feel like I am coping really well. I feel more together wth myself; more in tune.

There is still a long journey ahead of me, but I am definitely on the road to recovery now.

I know I am not the most regular blogger, I wish I could be! But, I may not be blogging for a few weeks. I am moving house!!! I am so excited, it’s going to be a fresh start for me and my family. It’s just what I need!

Moving house is stressful enough, but moving house with an 18 month old toddler is going to be next level stress!

So I hope you understand that I won’t have the time to blog properly until we are settled in our new house. I will however, be posting regularly on my social media; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Wish me luck!!

Until next time…

August Favourites

Hey!!
So I have been staring at a big pile of washing that needs folding and putting away for the past half an hour… Thinking to myself that I should really get it done… So to avoid it further, I am now writing a blog!
Here are my August Favourites:
IMG_2634
From left to right we have: L’Oreal Glam Bronze in 00 Blond Sun, Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 20, Benefit Roller Lash and L’Oreal Lip Cream in Protest Queen 103.
L’Oreal Glam Bronze – This matte bronzer is really really nice, I got it from Superdrug when they had a 3 for 2 offer on. It was a kind of spur of the moment purchase, so it wasnt something that I went out to buy. The packagine is nice and compact, it also comes with a brush which is handy. It looks like it has a bit of an orange undertone to it in the pan, but once it is applied it looks lovely. it is great for contouring!
Maybelline Brow Drama – I am not sure how many more times I can mention this product in my blogs!! I absolutely love this product though! My brows are so sparse, I still use a powder to fill in my brows and I use the brow drama on top – doing this sets my powder in to place and also adds dimension to my brows.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – This is another product that I cannot stop talking about! Hands down the best drug store concealer I have tried! It blends out easily, gives me the perfect under eye highlight, while covering my dark circles. Amazing!!
Benefit Roller Lash – I was so late jumping on this band wagon, but I am so glad I did. Yes it is expensive, and more than double what I would usually pay for a mascara, but it makes my lashes look fuller, thicker and longer.
L’Oreal Lip Cream – I also got this from Superdrug on the 3 for 2 offer, I have been after a nudey pinky gloss for a while. i really struggle with lip gloss’s, My lips feel so dry all the time that gloss never lasts on me, or it will crack half way through the day. I thought I would give this a try and I absolutely love it! I have been wearing this non stop, it makes my lips feel hydrated, it lasts a really long time and doesn’t feel sticky either! Love Love Love!!!
So they are my August favourites! I also recently purchased a lip scrub from Lush to see if that helps with my dry cracked lips – so I will keep you updated on how I get on!
Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month?

Makeup Revolution Affirmation Palette – MOTD

Hey guys!

I am planning on doing lots of big blogs soon, lots of swatches and detailed reviews. But until I upload them, I thought why not post some makeup looks and MOTD’s??

For this half done half undone look I used:

Maybelline Fit Me foundation and concealer

Makeup Revolution Affirmation palette on my eye

Maybelline Brow Drama in medium brown

W7 Honolulu Bronzer to contour

And a nudey type of gloss (any will do – I actually forgot which one I used 🙈)

I love the half done and half undone looks that I do, it really shows the power of makeup and how makeup can be used to enhance your features.

I love the MUR Affirmation palette, the shadows are gorgeous and pigmented! What do you think? Have you tried any of the products I used?

#BargainMakeupChallenge

Hello again!

Originally, I was looking to collaborate with another beauty blogger, I put posts up on Twitter and Instagram asking for other bloggers to get in touch. The response I had was incredible, so I decided to open this up as a challenge to all beauty bloggers!

The challenge, if you choose to accept is a £15 drugstore challenge!

Let’s see how much you can get for your money! This challenge is open internationally, so if you live outside the U.K then convert £15 in to your currency.

I would love to see what you get in your challenge! Tweet me @MrsJenMoore or tag me on Instagram @BargainMakeupBlog

Make sure you use the hashtag #BargainMakeupChallenge

The reason I started my blog was to prove to my readers and followers that you don’t have to spend an absolute fortune on makeup and beauty products. I think that sometimes (especially with YouTubers) there is a certain pressure to have exactly what they have. I am a mum who works full time, I can’t afford splurge lots of money on one or two products.

So, if you accept this challenge, then comment below! My challenge blog will be up at the end of the month.

I look forward to seeing your challenge results!

Thank you for reading!
