Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

While the beauty community and makeup lovers world wide are going bonkers for blinding highlight and creating new brow trends, I am over here in a corner thinking ‘I don’t like a REALLY blinding highlight, nor do I want braided brows or McDonalds brows’. But, here I am, still plodding along with my blog and just doing me.

Superdrug recently had an offer on all Sleek products; spend £12 and get a free essentials box. Of course, I took advantage of that offer and ordered 2 Solstice palettes. 1 for me, and 1 for my September giveaway on my Facebook page.

I had heard so many good reviews about the Solstice palette. Youtubers and Bloggers were raving about it. It always makes me slightly dubious when a Youtuber is recommending something. I question whether their recommendations are real or if they are being paid to say nice things. But that’s another story. I watch so many makeup tutorials on YT that are filled with Morphe brushes, my heart is telling me ‘I NEED THOSE BRUSHES IN MY LIFE. NOW!’ And my head is like ‘😑🤔’…

Anyway… getting back to the point of this blog 😂

My Solstice palettes arrived and when I opened the box I was stunned by the packaging. It looks stunning 😍👌🏻

It’s very lightweight and definitely a handbag friendly sized palette.

Inside the palette there is 2 baked powder highlighters, 1 cream formula highlighter & a silky shimmer powder.

I always apply my highlighter with my finger tip. It’s personal preference I suppose. I just feel like I have more control with my finger tips. I also don’t highlight the tops of my cheeks, again, personal preference. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. But, I do highlight my Cupid’s bow, brow bone, inner corners and the bridge of my nose.

When I tried the palette for the first time I absolutely fell in love. It’s not often that you find a highlighter palette that is affordable and really good quality.

The powders and cream highlighters apply beautifully, they blend perfectly and are SO pigmented for an affordable product.

I am currently sat on my daughters bedroom floor writing this blog, waiting for her to fall asleep 😴 so I have done some swatches for you, but the lighting isn’t that great in her bedroom. But I think I managed to get a pretty good shot of the swatches of the palette.

(Please excuse the tiny bruise on my arm ruining the 2nd swatch 😔)

As you can see, the highlighters are really pigmented, even the cream which is the far left swatch.

If you are in the market for a new highlighter, or even a highlighter palette with a mix of shades, then I definitely recommend the Solstice palette.

Have you got the Solstice palette? What’s your thoughts on it?

March Favourites & Exciting News..

Hello again!

This month I have really made an effort to try and do my makeup everyday, or atleast every 2 days. Being a stay at home parent to a toddler means I very rarely get time to myself or time to do my makeup. Often it’s a toss up between getting up early and putting my face on, or getting more sleep and looking like something out of the walking dead.

Recently I have been feeling really pants about how I look on a day to day basis. So I gave myself a kick up the bum and this month I have discovered new products & rediscovered old ones that I had forgotten about.

Here is what I have been absolutely loving this month:

March Favourites

Clockwise: Red Cherry Lashes #213, Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lipbalm, Unbranded makeup brushes, Technic Treasury Eyeshadow Palette, Technic Mega Lash mascara, w7 Flirty Eyes mascara, Benefit They’re Real Push Up liner, MUA 6 shade palette Soft Suedes.

Red Cherry Lashes #213 Normally I am not a false lash wearer unless it’s a big night out or a special event. But, I saw this set whilst browsing online and had to try them. They are wispy, Natural looking but add a bit of drama to the eyes. They are so comfortable to wear & I am definitely going to stock up on them! They have been used – excuse the glue & mascara on them 🙈

Arrow Boost Colour Enhancing Lipbalm I think I have mentioned this little beauty in previous blogs, but I have been reaching for it a lot this month. It brings out the natural colour of your lips. It’s a bit tangy and a bit minty too, which I love. If I am in a rush or my lips feel a bit dry I will use this. It’s such a great little product.

Unbranded Makeup Brushes I will admit it, I am a makeup brush hoarder. I also cannot stop buying makeup brushes. If I see a set that look a bit different, or are too pretty to resist then I will buy them. I was browsing eBay recently and came across this set of brushes. They are ridiculously gorgeous, and not only that but they are super soft & so easy to use. They apply and blend products beautifully. Did I mention how pretty they are???

Technic Treasury Palette This gorgeous palette has 24 shadows that range from mattes to shimmers. I was actually shocked at how good the shadows are in this palette. They apply lovely and blend really easily. I have been using this palette A LOT this month!

Technic Treasury Palette

Technic Mega Lash & w7 Flirty Eyes Mascaras I simply couldn’t choose between them, so I had to include both in my March Favourites. It’s not often that you find a good affordable mascara that ticks all your boxes is it? But I have found two! They’re not clumpy, they separate my Lashes perfectly, they don’t smudge and they last all day. I love love LOVE them!

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner So, I am absolutely pants at winged liner. I have one eye that is a different shape to the other, so trying to get my wings even is a struggle. I rediscovered the Push Up Liner in my collection, and thought I would give it another shot (I really didn’t like it the first time I used it), and MY GOSH, I love it. Winged liner is so much easier with this, and it doesn’t budge!

MUA Matte Soft Suedes Palette I spend a lot of my evenings browsing websites for new products and MUA have some seriously fab new products on their website right now. I wanted a compact palette with Matte shadows in, and added this little beauty to my basket. When my MUA package was delivered this palette was the first thing I tried. The shadows are gorgeous, blendable and buildable if you need to. This palette would be perfect for a natural/smoky eye.

Wow, that’s a lot of Favourites this month! If you have managed to stick with me this far then I must share my exciting news with you.

I recently launched my own affordable makeup website!!!!

It’s something I have always wanted to do, and I am so excited about it. I am very proud of my website & I am currently building up my stock.

I would love for you to check it out.

W7 Beat It Palette Review

Hey!

I recently purchased the Beat It and the Eye Want It eyeshadow palettes.

At the moment I have only tried out the Beat It palette.

The palette is ridiculously affordable. I think I picked mine up for around £4-£5!

The packaging is beautiful, and the eyeshadow inside are amazing quality.

(Please excuse my messy palette, it has been well used since I got it 🙈)

The palette includes 3 matte shades and 9 shimmery shades.

The colour range is amazing, w7 never fail to amaze me on the quality of their products (especially eyeshadow palettes!)

I created 2 different eye looks using this palette; a day look and a night look:

I did use the shimmery shades, unfortunately I don’t have a camera to pick up all the little details. Currently I use my iPhone to take all of my pictures, and the lighting is shocking in my new house 😑

All in all this palette is great, w7 have done it again and released another product to their range which I absolutely love!

Are you a fan of w7? Have you tried the Beat It palette yet? Let me know your thoughts ☺️

Bargain Makeup Secret Project..

Hey!

If you follow me on any of my social media you will have seen some posts about a little project I’m working on.

It’s very early days, there is still a lot of work that I need to put in to it. But, I am SUPER excited to be working on my own project.

I am currently working on a logo, I have seen ‘Bargain Makeup’ written thousands of ways, in different fonts and colours. Do you know when you look at a word for so long that you are not even sure if it’s actually a word?? I got to that stage, many times.

So there is a little clue for what my project is. Feel free to make your guesses in the comments.

I will keep you updated of what’s going on, and when it’s going to be launching.

You can also keep up to date with what’s going on, on my social media:

Freedom Makeup London – yes or no?

Recently I discovered Freedom Makeup London on Facebook. I checked out their website and thought I would buy a bundle of products to add to my ever growing makeup collection.

Here is what I got:

I picked up 3 individual eyeshades, a liquid eye liner, mascara, blush palette, 3 lipsticks, 1 lip gloss, 2 concealers and a contour and highlight stick.

My memory isn’t great, but I think all of the products came to around £21 give or take a few pence.

As I placed my order online I had to wait for them to be delivered, I am like a kid at Christmas when I get parcels. I always seem to forget what I have ordered so it is a nice little surprise when I open up my package to see what I have actually got!

Firstly, the packaging is lovely, it’s sleek but simple. The packaging gives the impression that the products are really expensive.

First impressions after trying out the products

The eye shadows are absolutely gorgeous, very pigmented and easy to blend out.

The liquid eyeliner is really nice. I am absolutely crap with liquid eyeliner, but somehow, my eyeliner actually turns out great after using it.

The mascara is lovely, it is a brissel wand and really coats every lash with mascara.

The blush palette I am yet to try, day to day I don’t wear blush (purely because my daughter gives me about 5 minutes to get ready each morning – it’s a miracle if I manage to put foundation on!) I normally save blusher for a night out (they are very rare!) so I will update you when I use it.

Oh my goodness!! The lipsticks!! I absolutely love them! I picked up a nude (112 Sooner or Later) a red (106 Fever) and a dark red (109 Red Wine) they are so pigmented it’s ridiculous, they are easy to apply and long lasting too.

The gloss is a nice nudey-pink in the shade 106 Desire. I hate gloss’s that make my lips feel sticky or dry, but this gloss is great!

I picked up two concealers as I fake tan (when I can be bothered) so depending on what shade my skin tone is, depends on which concealer I use. They blend out easily and last a long time if I powder it in to place.

I feel like I hit the jackpot with the contour and highlight stick. I have been looking for a decent contour stick for ages, but I hadn’t been able to find one. When I saw this on the Freedom website it went straight in my basket! The contour shade is perfect for me, and the highlight is really pretty and subtle.

Overall, I am completely in love with all the products I ordered from Freedom. Also, they are cruelty free, which is a massive plus for me!

Thumbs up Freedom Makeup, I will be ordering again soon!!

Have you tried any Freedom Makeup London products?

October Favourites

Hey!
So another month in 2015 has passed us by! This year is absolutely flying by!
Here are my (late as always) monthly favourites:
IMG_3257
So, I have raved about the Pound Shop Argain Oil Night Repair Serum so many times, but I really notice the difference in my skin when I have used this product. It makes my skin feel and look so much better. Plus, its only a quid! Such an amazing product, with an even better price tag!
Lets just take a moment and look at my Real Techniques Bold Metal Brushes….. My husband surprised me with these beauties a few weeks ago, and they are amazing brushes. I couldn’t fit the whole collection in the picture, but the brissles are so soft and they do all the blending work for you!
The Maybelline Instant Anti-Age concealer is fantastic! I uploaded a picture on to my instagram, and somebody commented “Great mummy concealer”, I could not agree more! My daughters usually brilliant sleeping pattern has gone out of the window (since the clocks were put back) and is now waking up at crazy times in the morning, so the dark circles under my eyes are really bad at the moment, but this concealer covers them straight up! Amazing concealer!!
I have mentioned the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation before, I stopped using it for a while, and now I have gone back to it. It blends out so easily, I would say this is a light to medium coverage, but builable if you need/want to.
Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite affordable brands, their palettes are amazing quality, infact all of their products are amazing quality, but this lip velour is something else! I have posted a picture on my Instagram with swatches, feel free to check it out. This particular shade is ‘Say Yes, Its What We Do Best’
My lips get so dry, especially with the crazy and unpredictable UK weather, but this lip velour is amazing and makes my lips feel hydrated and silky smooth.
What have you been loving this month?
What kind of posts would you like to see from me over the next few weeks? I am trying so hard to dedicate time to my blog, I have been neglecting it so much over the past few weeks (Sorry!)

Mini w7 Haul

Hey guys!

It feels like it has been forever since I sat down and wrote a blog!

Everything has been crazy recently, and I have been super busy with work and family life, so I have neglected my blog a bit 😔

But I am back!! And I have lots of exciting blogs coming your way, so stay tuned for updates on new blog posts!

Today’s blog is about the w7 Cheeky Trio palette, the w7 Honolulu bronzer and the w7 In The Night palette.

For swatches and a full review of all 3 products, please check out my main blog website: www.bargainmakeupblog.com

Have you tried any of the w7 Cosmetics products? What do you think of the brand?

Their eyeshadow palettes are amazing, affordable and very pigmented for saying how inexpensive they are!

I recently ordered w7’s dupe for the Soleil Tan De Chanel, I am just waiting for it to arrive. W7 tweeted yesterday announcing that their loose banana powder is now available… Is this a dupe for the Ben Nye Banana powder? I think so! I can’t wait to try it though!

BIG Makeup Revolution Haul

 Hey!

So a couple of weeks ago I was browsing Instagram, and Makeup Revolution posted an amazing offer, spend £30 and get £25 worth of free products! Who could say no to that?! Certainly not me!

So I spent my £30 on their new Contour Palette, Colour Correction Palette, x1 Eyeshadow Pigment, x1 Eyeshadow Brush, x1 Contour Brush, x2 highlighters, and x1 Eyeshadow Primer.

The freebies I got were x5 Single Eyeshadows in various colours, x2 lipsticks, x1 lipgloss, x1 lipgloss/lipstick combo, x1 Girl Panic Eyeshadow Palette, x2 Eyeshadow Pigments, x1 Eyeshadow Primer and x1 Eyeshadow Palette.

Firstly, how amazing is that offer? If you don’t already follow Makeup Revolution on Instagram, then you need to follow them to stay up to date with their offers and promotions!

I am yet to try out a lot of the products, and I will do a seperate post about the Contour and Colour Correction palettes, but I have used the brushes and they are brilliant! They blend out the product so easily, and they are super soft!

The highlighters are lovely! The peachy/pinky shade highlighter is very subtle, but gives me a lovely glow. It is very pretty on the under the brow and on the tops of my cheeks.

One of the lipsticks that I got free is the perfect pinky nudey shade for my lips, it feels very creamy and moisturising. This has been my go to lipstick since my haul was delivered! I love it!

I will do a seperate post and go in to more detail about the palettes, so bear with me, I will upload that blog as soon as posible. But I really just wanted to share my haul with you!
