Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

While the beauty community and makeup lovers world wide are going bonkers for blinding highlight and creating new brow trends, I am over here in a corner thinking ‘I don’t like a REALLY blinding highlight, nor do I want braided brows or McDonalds brows’. But, here I am, still plodding along with my blog and just doing me.

Superdrug recently had an offer on all Sleek products; spend £12 and get a free essentials box. Of course, I took advantage of that offer and ordered 2 Solstice palettes. 1 for me, and 1 for my September giveaway on my Facebook page.

I had heard so many good reviews about the Solstice palette. Youtubers and Bloggers were raving about it. It always makes me slightly dubious when a Youtuber is recommending something. I question whether their recommendations are real or if they are being paid to say nice things. But that’s another story. I watch so many makeup tutorials on YT that are filled with Morphe brushes, my heart is telling me ‘I NEED THOSE BRUSHES IN MY LIFE. NOW!’ And my head is like ‘😑🤔’…

Anyway… getting back to the point of this blog 😂

My Solstice palettes arrived and when I opened the box I was stunned by the packaging. It looks stunning 😍👌🏻

It’s very lightweight and definitely a handbag friendly sized palette.

Inside the palette there is 2 baked powder highlighters, 1 cream formula highlighter & a silky shimmer powder.

I always apply my highlighter with my finger tip. It’s personal preference I suppose. I just feel like I have more control with my finger tips. I also don’t highlight the tops of my cheeks, again, personal preference. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. But, I do highlight my Cupid’s bow, brow bone, inner corners and the bridge of my nose.

When I tried the palette for the first time I absolutely fell in love. It’s not often that you find a highlighter palette that is affordable and really good quality.

The powders and cream highlighters apply beautifully, they blend perfectly and are SO pigmented for an affordable product.

I am currently sat on my daughters bedroom floor writing this blog, waiting for her to fall asleep 😴 so I have done some swatches for you, but the lighting isn’t that great in her bedroom. But I think I managed to get a pretty good shot of the swatches of the palette.

(Please excuse the tiny bruise on my arm ruining the 2nd swatch 😔)

As you can see, the highlighters are really pigmented, even the cream which is the far left swatch.

If you are in the market for a new highlighter, or even a highlighter palette with a mix of shades, then I definitely recommend the Solstice palette.

Have you got the Solstice palette? What’s your thoughts on it?

Kylie Cosmetics Review & Swatches

A couple of weeks I was lucky enough to come across genuine Kyshadow palettes on eBay for an amazing price. I ordered 2 palettes (1 of which will be part of my next giveaway 😏😜)

I also found the Birthday Edition Liquid Lipstick Mini Kit.

Let’s start with the eyeshadow palette. Firstly, the packaging is beautiful. I really like it. The shades are lovely and very blendable. There are 6 matte shadows and 3 shimmer shades.

They eyeshadows swatch perfectly. Very pigmented, apart from the gold shimmer shadow which I would recommend wetting your brush before applying to get a better pay off.

Now on to the liquid lipstick mini kit.

They are very pigmented, and they smell amazing. The packaging is lovely too.

Here are my bad points…

Only the box is labelled with the shade names. Not the individual products. To me that’s annoying.

I swatched each one on my arm, but I suppose you only get a true reflection of a lip product when you try it on your lips. Once I applied it my lips dried up almost instantly. The product made my lips feel really really dry. It also felt quite sticky too. It was also really difficult to take off.

I took this picture after 5 minutes of scrubbing my arm 😫😵😲

The eyeshadow palette is a winner, but I definitely won’t be using any of the liquid lipsticks again!

Have you tried any of the Kylie Cosmetics range? What did you think?

My Name Is Jen & I’m a Makeup Addict

Phew! It feels so good to get that off my chest! It’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders 😏

Anyhow, yes, it’s true… I am addicted to makeup. I’m addicted to buying makeup, trying makeup, browsing online for new products, or in stores.

I took my daughter shopping the other day, I could hear the makeup in my local Boots store calling me. “Jen, come on in, you know you want to!” So ofcourse I go into Boots, I am casually browsing the makeup, I pick up some foundation which I convince myself I need, I also pick up some concealer (which I actually did need because I had ran out), and then we move on to the palettes. I’m a sucker for an eyeshadow palette. I notice some palettes, the packaging was sealed so I couldn’t see what shades were inside… but I purchased it anyway!!! Who does that?! Me. That’s who!

Nobody needs between 20-30 eyeshadow palettes, it’s ridiculous!

New products are coming out ALL the time, and I love blogging about affordable makeup. But I have no ‘out with the old, in with the new’ process going on.

My very understanding hubby is currently in the process of sorting out a beauty corner for me in our bedroom. I spoke to him about more shelves/storage, he agreed that we would get some. I then said to him, “When my new storage arrives, you might want to leave to me sort it all out… because you have no idea just how much makeup I own, and I don’t want you to see it all”.

He would judge me. I know he would. But, he married me, he said the vows ‘In sickness & in health’… This is my sickness.

I need some ideas for a process to keep my makeup collection to a manageable level. Feel free to share some ideas.

Also, let me know if you would be interested in seeing my makeup collection, I would love to blog about what products I have and what products I use the most.

W7 Beat It Palette Review

Hey!

I recently purchased the Beat It and the Eye Want It eyeshadow palettes.

At the moment I have only tried out the Beat It palette.

The palette is ridiculously affordable. I think I picked mine up for around £4-£5!

The packaging is beautiful, and the eyeshadow inside are amazing quality.

(Please excuse my messy palette, it has been well used since I got it 🙈)

The palette includes 3 matte shades and 9 shimmery shades.

The colour range is amazing, w7 never fail to amaze me on the quality of their products (especially eyeshadow palettes!)

I created 2 different eye looks using this palette; a day look and a night look:

I did use the shimmery shades, unfortunately I don’t have a camera to pick up all the little details. Currently I use my iPhone to take all of my pictures, and the lighting is shocking in my new house 😑

All in all this palette is great, w7 have done it again and released another product to their range which I absolutely love!

Are you a fan of w7? Have you tried the Beat It palette yet? Let me know your thoughts ☺️

W7 Bronze Queen – MOTD

Hey!!

W7 cosmetics recently sent some products to me, and in the little bundle there was the Bronze Queen palette. I have had my eye on this palette for a while now, so I was so pleased when they sent it to me.

I wanted to go with a natural look, so I used my favourite foundation and concealer at the moment, the Maybelline Fit me! Girls, if you have not tried this foundation and concealer please give it a go! I love mine! They work together so beautifully and blend super easily too!

On my eyes I used the Bronze Queen palette, and I used my w7 Absolute Lashes mascara too!

The gloss I used was the L’Oreal lip cream in the shade Protest Queen.

What do you think? Have you tried any of the products I used? What products are you living at the moment?

Don’t forget that there is still time to take part in my #BargainMakeupChallenge £15 price limit, any drugstore, any country, let’s see what you can get for your money!!

I shopped online for my challenge, my products arrived yesterday and I love them all! I managed to get 11 products and a free makeup bag!! I will be doing a blog at the end of the month with links to other beauty bloggers challenge results!
