Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

While the beauty community and makeup lovers world wide are going bonkers for blinding highlight and creating new brow trends, I am over here in a corner thinking ‘I don’t like a REALLY blinding highlight, nor do I want braided brows or McDonalds brows’. But, here I am, still plodding along with my blog and just doing me.

Superdrug recently had an offer on all Sleek products; spend £12 and get a free essentials box. Of course, I took advantage of that offer and ordered 2 Solstice palettes. 1 for me, and 1 for my September giveaway on my Facebook page.

I had heard so many good reviews about the Solstice palette. Youtubers and Bloggers were raving about it. It always makes me slightly dubious when a Youtuber is recommending something. I question whether their recommendations are real or if they are being paid to say nice things. But that’s another story. I watch so many makeup tutorials on YT that are filled with Morphe brushes, my heart is telling me ‘I NEED THOSE BRUSHES IN MY LIFE. NOW!’ And my head is like ‘😑🤔’…

Anyway… getting back to the point of this blog 😂

My Solstice palettes arrived and when I opened the box I was stunned by the packaging. It looks stunning 😍👌🏻

It’s very lightweight and definitely a handbag friendly sized palette.

Inside the palette there is 2 baked powder highlighters, 1 cream formula highlighter & a silky shimmer powder.

I always apply my highlighter with my finger tip. It’s personal preference I suppose. I just feel like I have more control with my finger tips. I also don’t highlight the tops of my cheeks, again, personal preference. I just don’t like the way it looks on me. But, I do highlight my Cupid’s bow, brow bone, inner corners and the bridge of my nose.

When I tried the palette for the first time I absolutely fell in love. It’s not often that you find a highlighter palette that is affordable and really good quality.

The powders and cream highlighters apply beautifully, they blend perfectly and are SO pigmented for an affordable product.

I am currently sat on my daughters bedroom floor writing this blog, waiting for her to fall asleep 😴 so I have done some swatches for you, but the lighting isn’t that great in her bedroom. But I think I managed to get a pretty good shot of the swatches of the palette.

(Please excuse the tiny bruise on my arm ruining the 2nd swatch 😔)

As you can see, the highlighters are really pigmented, even the cream which is the far left swatch.

If you are in the market for a new highlighter, or even a highlighter palette with a mix of shades, then I definitely recommend the Solstice palette.

Have you got the Solstice palette? What’s your thoughts on it?

So Eco Brushes – Yes or No?

Hey!!

I hope you’re all doing well?

I was recently sent 2 So Eco brushes by My Cosmetic Corner. My Cosmetic Corner is an amazing website that is filled with makeup products and accessories all below RRP.

I have known the owner of MCC for a while now,  I can’t even remember how we first started talking! Our friendship has blossomed and we speak on a daily basis (pretty much). When she messaged me and told me she was getting So Eco brushes in stock I was so excited! I had wanted to try their brushes for so long, but never got round to buying any. She asked me to try a couple of brushes out for her and give her my honest opinion.

I received the So Eco Multi Tasking Brush & the Bronzer Brush.

Please excuse the dirty brushes, they have been used a few times and put to the test 😊

Firstly, the brushes are so comfortable to hold. The Multi Tasking Brush blended out my foundation really easily, and it also worked perfectly at blending out my concealer.

The brushes are super soft and the brissels feel really nice on the skin. Not scratchy at all.

I am in LOVE with how big and chunky the Bronzer Brush is. Again, it’s super soft and comfortable to hold, but because of how big the brush is it really helps to give you a natural bronzy look. It doesn’t pick up too much product either.

I would 100% recommend both of these brushes.

If you want to check out what So Eco brushes My Cosmetic Corner has in stock, please go to the following link:

Bargain Makeup Secret Project..

Hey!

If you follow me on any of my social media you will have seen some posts about a little project I’m working on.

It’s very early days, there is still a lot of work that I need to put in to it. But, I am SUPER excited to be working on my own project.

I am currently working on a logo, I have seen ‘Bargain Makeup’ written thousands of ways, in different fonts and colours. Do you know when you look at a word for so long that you are not even sure if it’s actually a word?? I got to that stage, many times.

So there is a little clue for what my project is. Feel free to make your guesses in the comments.

I will keep you updated of what’s going on, and when it’s going to be launching.

You can also keep up to date with what’s going on, on my social media:

What’s Been Going On..

It has seriously been way too long since I last blogged. For that I am sorry, but let me explain…

Due to one reason or another, my depression creeped back up on me. It didn’t happen all of a sudden, but due to stress and lots of other things it crawled it’s way back in to my life. I thought that I had seen the back of it, I had weaned myself off my tablets and really thought I was in a good place again, but no. It’s pretty shit, but I guess that’s life! You never know what is round the corner I suppose. It’s hard for me to mentally prepare myself for the unexpected. But, I am back on the road to recovery (once again!)

We have finally settled in to our new house! Woohoo! (there may still be a couple of boxes and bags we haven’t unpacked, but never mind, I am sure we will get round to it soon). It makes such a difference living in a quiet area, near the countryside. It’s so peaceful.

If you follow me on my Facebook page (if you don’t, search for Bargain Makeup Blog 😜), you will know that I posted a photo of my whole makeup collection still in a big box waiting to be unpacked 3 weeks after moving in to our new house. Well, I have an announcement to make… I finally unpacked it and put it all nearly away. Everything has its own place, I love how organised it is. That is until my nearly 2 year old daughter gets her hands on it, and then it’s everywhere!

I have also been thinking about the future. What about my blog? Where do I see myself in 5 years time? What do I want to do with my life? What kind of example do I want to set for my daughter?  I want to show her that you can achieve anything in life with hard work, dedication and passion. Ok, so what’s my passion in life?..

My first passion in life is my family. I am also ridiculously passionate about makeup. I love how one cost of mascara can make me feel 110% more confident. I love that makeup has no boundaries, there are no rules to makeup, and if you mess it up it wipes straight off! So what do I do with this passion??

A couple of ideas have been floating around my head for a couple of years now. I would LOVE to start my own makeup line, that would be my ultimate goal, and I hope one day I can achieve it.

The second idea I have is currently work in progress, so watch this space. But I promise you, that if you love affordable makeup, you will love what I have been working on.

I feel so disconnected with my followers lately, for that I am sorry. But I hope you understand why I have kept myself under the radar so to speak. I needed time to heal and get myself in to a better place.

Thank you for all your support, it truly means the world to me.

New Makeup Brush Storage

Previously, I have used old candle holders to store my makeup brushes. Once the candle had ran out, I washed out the remaining wax, let them dry and they were good to go.

My birthday is coming up soon, and I have asked my hubby for a new dressing table.

In preparation for my new dressing table I picked up these Bathroom Tumblers from Matalan for £2 each.

They are super cute & they are plastic so I don’t have to worry about breaking them. Also, the price is amazing!

I had been browsing eBay and Amazon for makeup brush holders for a few days, but I saw these in Matalan and knew they would be perfect.

Once I get my new dressing table I will be transforming my beauty room & giving it a full makeover. I will, of course, be blogging about it once it is all finished!

October Favourites

Hey!
So another month in 2015 has passed us by! This year is absolutely flying by!
Here are my (late as always) monthly favourites:
IMG_3257
So, I have raved about the Pound Shop Argain Oil Night Repair Serum so many times, but I really notice the difference in my skin when I have used this product. It makes my skin feel and look so much better. Plus, its only a quid! Such an amazing product, with an even better price tag!
Lets just take a moment and look at my Real Techniques Bold Metal Brushes….. My husband surprised me with these beauties a few weeks ago, and they are amazing brushes. I couldn’t fit the whole collection in the picture, but the brissles are so soft and they do all the blending work for you!
The Maybelline Instant Anti-Age concealer is fantastic! I uploaded a picture on to my instagram, and somebody commented “Great mummy concealer”, I could not agree more! My daughters usually brilliant sleeping pattern has gone out of the window (since the clocks were put back) and is now waking up at crazy times in the morning, so the dark circles under my eyes are really bad at the moment, but this concealer covers them straight up! Amazing concealer!!
I have mentioned the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation before, I stopped using it for a while, and now I have gone back to it. It blends out so easily, I would say this is a light to medium coverage, but builable if you need/want to.
Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite affordable brands, their palettes are amazing quality, infact all of their products are amazing quality, but this lip velour is something else! I have posted a picture on my Instagram with swatches, feel free to check it out. This particular shade is ‘Say Yes, Its What We Do Best’
My lips get so dry, especially with the crazy and unpredictable UK weather, but this lip velour is amazing and makes my lips feel hydrated and silky smooth.
What have you been loving this month?
What kind of posts would you like to see from me over the next few weeks? I am trying so hard to dedicate time to my blog, I have been neglecting it so much over the past few weeks (Sorry!)
Thank you for reading!
